Message from Staff

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15 NIV

This week we are looking at Leading others through a good idea that God gives us, brings hope. The important part about this is that it is a good idea that God gives us. This begs the question then – how do we hear what God wants for others? I was reading a Study the other day that gave 8 different ways of hearing from God.

1. Through His Word in general
2. Through His Son, Jesus Christ
3. Through Nature and God’s Creation
4. Through Other Believers
5. Through Music
6. Through Circumstances
7. Through His Spirit
8.  Through Prayer

When I think about how God has spoken to me over the years I think all of the above have been true. Some times it has been in the weirdest way –  like when I was trying to chose which car to buy and God directed me to a single verse in the Bible that stated a model that was offered by one of my two choices!

I think the important thing for me was how I ‘knew’ that it was God speaking to me. Generally this was either due to an incredible peace or the exact opposite of a real excitement. The study mentioned this particularly in regard to 6; Through Circumstances. On this point it emphasised the need to confirm this in another way: “God is a Holy God, and often uses circumstances to get our attention. But He will usually confirm it in other ways.”

It is really exciting to lead others in something you know is from God as we also know that God walks before us and has everything under control. This gives confidence to push through.

I pray that you too may lead others in God’s path and regularly hear what God wants for you and for others.

May God bless you and your family this week.

Exploring the Values at Home

This week we continue our exploration of Love and Hope by continuing to explore the Joseph story. We will look at how Joseph was able to bring hope and love to Egypt and his own family through carefully executing a plan that God had given him. In circle time this week we are learning what it means to pro-actively solve problems.

Discussion:
1. How does your family solve problems that come up?
2. How many different ways can your family think of to solve a problem?
3. What criteria does your family have for how to decide if a solution is a good one.

Bible verse to read and discuss at home;

Romans 12:6-8

Family challenge of the week:
Solve a problem together using your criteria.
