Welcome to Term 4!
It was mentioned at church yesterday that it is only 11 weeks until Christmas. I find it hard to believe that we are in Term 4 already. Term 4 is a busy term in a primary school, as we start to prepare for the following year, including starting to help the students transition into their learning spaces for 2017, while we also want to make the most of the 10 weeks of learning. It would be a good idea to touch base with your child’s teacher and see if there are specific things you can be doing at home to enhance your child’s learning in this final term of 2016.
This term we are looking forward to working on the practical aspects of the food forest. I was speaking to a friend in the weekend who is writing an academic article on the therapeutic nature of gardening. In a world that is busy and often frantic it is good for the mind and soul to spend some time connecting with nature. I encourage you to extend your children’s understanding of gardening by creating your own garden at home too.
This term we are looking at Love and Peace. We will be exploring how we can have peace through maintaining a loving relationship with God, ourselves, others and nature. In Living Christianly we will be exploring God’s big story of the world and the wisdom His word brings in finding peace. In Circle Time we will be looking at building skills for restorative practices in relationships. In our other learning areas we will be learning about different cultures and how we can have peace with one another through celebrating diversity and unity. So, it’s looking to be a good term of learning!
Please continue to keep the school, and particularly the staff, in your prayers. We pray that throughout the term our students will grow in Love and Peace with God, themselves, others and the beautiful world God has blessed us with.
