As the year draws to a close, the word ‘reflection’ comes to mind. I am taken back to the beginning of Genesis when God created the parts of the earth. He then stopped to reflect on what he had done. He uttered the words “It is good”and then retreated for a rest-filled night. As we are made in God’s image I believe that we are called to reflect.
We have enjoyed 334 days of the year 2015. It is amazing that with each new day we are able to connect with our creator. Over 300 days to share Jesus with the people in our world and bring light into potentially dark situations.
It was around this time last year that we were meeting for the first time in the Levi Park playground. Wow! The school has come a long way over the past 334 days. The year began with the teachers coming together and having much discussion about the values of the school. We continued on to that wonderful first day in the Scout Den. Remember that buzz of excitement and potential of this year at Rolleston Christian School? Do you remember first entering the building? A sign of new beginnings. We truly came together as a RCS whanau over the first term through kapa haka, afternoon teas, and special assemblies. The next two terms were busy. We celebrated much student success, endured times of challenge, and continued to build effective relationships with each other. Now, we are in the eighth week of the fourth term. What a journey we have been on. Upon reflection, I have thoroughly enjoyed this year. No, perfection was not attained in all situations, but personally, my character and faith has been developed across the year.
So on that note, I encourage you to reflect on the events of your year. Questions you may ask yourself may be: Have I achieved my goals? In what ways have I served God? How has the Holy Spirit developed my character? What revelations has God given me? How have I represented Jesus to this world? If you feel like you have more to offer, there are 31 days left of this year.
“Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.” Psalm 90:12
In this scripture, David implores God in the Psalms to give us revelation about the days we have. I pray that you too see how precious each new day is. Reflect on how you have and can use each day to bring glory to our heavenly Father. I hope you can look back on this year and feel much success. It was good!
Please can you support the protecting garden group by bringing some big old daddy clothes to RCS. We are building a scarecrow and need clothes for it. Thank you from HOLLY and MICHAELA!!!!!!
Scholastics Book Fair – This Week!
The Scholastic Book Fair is this week (30th November-4th December). This is a great opportunity to buy books for Christmas gifts, and books or activities to keep children occupied over the summer break. We will also create a list of books the School would like, if you should want to purchase books for donation. Items will be available for purchase between 8.30am and 9.30am and 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
Parents are advised that attendance dues for 2016 will remain at $1,300 per pupil. Attendance dues are payable to the Proprietor of the school, The Christian Schools Trust, and are used to fund the significant investment in property that the Trust has made in establishing Rolleston Christian School. We would also ask each family to prayerfully consider making an additional donation to the Trust which will assist in covering the ongoing property costs of the school.
If you are planning to move in 2016 and your children will not attend RCS please let us know. If you have any questions regarding the programme next year please pop in for a chat.

Ashburton Mitre 10 Mega Christmas in the Park is happening again this year! The night has changed from a Sunday to Saturday night, which makes it easier for parents to have their children up late.
This year we have special guest Stevie Tonks from X-Factor and the evening will finish off once again with our famous Mega fireworks display. Hot and cold food and drinks are available throughout the concert, and you are welcome to bring your own picnic tea to eat in our lovely Ashburton Domain Oval setting.
This is an event organised by a few people through the Christian Ministers Association who had a vision to bring a true Christmas celebration to the district, which is totally free for all families to attend.
