The Prayer of Partnership

Lately God has given me a revelation about this incredible family He is building on this earth. I have been reflecting on the wonderful family God is uniting right here at Rolleston Christian School.  The expression of this family has been in many ways, from parents consoling each other in times of need, to children celebrating each other’s successes. It has been remarkable to see the people that God is bringing together through RCS.

The Bible says “so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. (Romans 12:5)” To me this scripture talks about the partnership Christ encourages from His body on this earth. Whanau, parents, teachers, children – Together God has called us to unite.
Psalms 133:1 exclaims “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”. With this union comes responsibility, to learn to work together in partnership. Interestingly synonyms for partnership included relationship, connection, cooperation, and collaboration. All words that I see as being vitally important as we continue through Term 2.

My prayer is that we would continue on in partnership. Not on a surface level but on a deep mutual understanding of the bigger purpose of our school community. Our eyes need to be looking up at His plans for our lives and the lives of our children. All that we do is to glorify His name.

I leave us with this closing scripture to meditate on. This a wonderful, biblical prayer of partnership:
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:2-3 NIV)

 What’s Happening

Board Elections
The school is pleased to announce the result of recent Board Elections.  Those elected by the Parent Body are:
Rebekah Couper Wain
Joe Fleener
Nin McKay
Vickie Sheath

Dennis Marshall has been elected by the Staff to the Board.

Liz Horn will continue to have a place as Principal.  As there are 4 Parent Elected representatives, the Proprietor has the right to appoint up to 3 Proprietor representatives (they are entitled to one less than the number of Parent elected representatives).  To date the Proprietor has appointed Mark Larson as one of its representatives.  The balance of its representatives will be appointed later in the year.

Our grateful thanks to the Establishment Board of Trustees (appointed by the Minister of Education to oversee the establishment of the School).  Ngaire Button, Heather Agnew and Sam Broughton along with Rebekah Couper Wain and Mark Larson have ensured the School is well placed to progress well from here.  It is good for continuity that Mark and Rebekah will be on the new Board.

The new Board has its first meeting Wednesday 20th May at the School.  The Board will keep the School community appraised of its work.

Pastoral Care – Koha Box
The RCS Pastoral Care Committee are running a ‘Lunch Box Filler’ drive to collect non-perishable lunch box fillers for our children when they forget their lunch, have oopsies and spill or drop their food, and for when there are gaps in lunchboxes.  The fruit bowl is in the kitchen for the same reason and donations of fruit are gladly received.  For anyone who would like to contribute towards this there will be a collection box under the fruit bowl in the kitchen.  Thank you to those who have already been assisting with this.
Many thanks and Blessings, RCS Pastoral Care Committee
