|Kia ora Whanau,I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying an extra day of relaxation!
The children have made a great start to the school year, with many of our returning students slotting quickly into the routines from last year. A big thank you to everyone for ensuring stationery was at school this week. This means that quality teaching and learning can begin nice and promptly.
We are looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday for our information evening. This is an important aspect of partnering together in the education of your child/ren so we do ask that you make the effort to attend.
This term we are beginning the implementation of our LIGHTS programme. The students are currently at the ‘L’ stage – ‘Look at the current situation’. With our focus on Peace, this term the children are ‘Looking’ at emotions, with the view to explore how they, individually and collectively, can manage their emotions to create peace and then implement the ideas they come up with. This is a Health based LIGHTS project. Each term the LIGHTS project will have a different curriculum area focus. I look forward to explaining the LIGHTS process to you in more depth through a small video clip that will be included in this newsletter each week.
Please remember to touch base with your child’s kohanga teacher regularly, this helps to keep lines of communication open and allows us to address any questions you have quickly.
Again, I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.
