I hope this newsletter finds you well and looking forward to the new hope that spring brings!
I’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone that filled in our inquiry survey. The information you provided has helped us understand your perspective of your child’s learning which is extremely valuable. We are still working through this data to determine the next steps in our inquiry but will be looking to seek a deeper understanding from our parent community in the next few weeks.
Unfortunately, Mandy Cleave will be on leave for the remainder of the term, due to her mother’s health deteriorating at a rapid rate. Please keep Mandy and her family in your prayers.
This week we are having a brand new event for us here at RCS – an interactive maths afternoon/evening. The purpose of this event is for the staff and students to give you, as parents, an insight into how maths is taught and learnt at RCS. There will be different maths activities set up for you to enjoy with your child/ren, the staff will be available to answer any questions you might have, and the learning progressions your child/ren are working through will be displayed in the different spaces in the classroom block. This should be a valuable time for you to build an understanding of both how your child is learning at maths time and also what you can be doing at home to support your child with their learning.
A reminder that Nathan Wallis is speaking at Rolleston College this evening for those of you who came to get tickets from the office. I’m personally really looking forward to hearing Nathan’s message. I’m also looking forward to the PCG’s upcoming event with Ian Grant. Parenting is an extremely important, but not easy life project, so I think it is wonderful that these events are being held to help grow parents in our area in order for you to enjoy and flourish in the role you are blessed with.
I look forward to seeing you at each of these events over the coming weeks.
This Wednesday, September 6th from 4-6 pmwe are holding an interactive Maths information evening at school. Come with your children who will be showing you what maths looks like at RCS!
Come with your children and see some of the ways they experience maths learning. Our students will be teaching you some of the activities they do to reinforce the mathematical concepts they are ready to learn. Meet in the space that your child works in at any time between 4 and 6pm.
