Message from Staff

Greetings everyone,

As we enter the final week of the term it is a good time to look back at what we have learnt and achieved throughout the term. Please join us on Wednesday morning at 9.10am as we do this with the children.

It has been really wonderful this year to start exploring our new values statement, “Through our faith we HELP bring light to our world.” This term we have explored the biblical description of love found in 1 Corinthians 13, by looking at the actions of Jesus throughout his life. I believe that in order to love in this way we first need to accept the great love that God has for us. God is patient and kind with us, he is humble and is not easily angered with us. He always perseveres with us, never gives up and always hopes. I pray you will know this love in a growing way as we continue to explore love throughout the rest of the year.

As we finish the term we end with ‘Love always hopes’. When Jesus leaves his disciples for the last time, I love that he leaves them with two hopes – one, that he will return one day, and two, that Jesus is sending them the Holy Spirit to give them the power they need to carry on the work that Jesus started.

These are the hopes that we still live in. I love that we have a part in God’s story of love and hope, and that God’s Spirit works in and through us to bring hope and love to the world. Which is what we shall explore next term.

In teaching and learning what it means to live out our values statement, “Through our faith we HELP bring light to the world.” We are encouraging children to grow in their Hope, Excellence, Love and Peace. One way we are encouraging students to do this is through awarding HELPer Awards. This term the children can start to work towards getting a HELPer Award by applying to get a Love Award. To do this the children need to apply in writing to the leadership team. Please look through the questions below to help your child/ren think about whether they should apply for their love award this term.

I pray you will have a wonderful break with your children and we look forward to seeing you next term.

Many blessings,

Exploring the Values at Home

To receive a ‘Love Award’ students need to apply in writing. Their application should include the following things. For younger students, parents are welcome to scribe the application, but we want to hear your child’s voice in the application.

1. What have you learnt this term about love?
2. How have you shown through your actions in the classroom that you have grown in love this term?
3. How have you shown through your actions in the playground that you have grown in love this term?
4. How have you shown through your actions at home that you have grown in love this term?
5. In what ways have you shown love through your Home Learning?
6. How have others confirmed to you that you have been loving? (eg. certificate, class nominations)

What’s Happening

Informative morning teas – consultation tomorrow

Please come along to join in the discussion about what you would like to see the school offer, so that you are able to support your child’s education as much as possible. 9.15am, in the staff room tomorrow, 12th April.

We will be having a Mufti Day on the final day of term. Friday April 15. Please bring a ‘bottle’ as your payment. The bottles will be saved up for the Mystery Bottle stand at the Rolleston Fireworks. Bottles need to be plastic, non- alcoholic, and should not expire before early next year.

End of Term Assembly

As many of the leadership team are away at a conference on the Thursday and Friday of the last day of term we will be having our End of Term Celebration on the Wednesday (13 April) of the last week of term. We will begin at 9.10am, in order to make it easy for people to attend. We look forward to seeing you then.

Message from Savannah and Izzy M

For our learning this week we need everyone in the Middle Hub to bring spades, gumboots and rain-jackets everyday.

What’s Coming Up

Board of Trustees Elections:
We have the Triennial BOT elections coming up soon. Our current Board is doing a wonderful job, but there is an election every three years, country wide, to elect the Board. Three of our parent elected members will be standing for election again, while one trustee is standing down.

If you are interested in being a Trustee please click here for more information .

For more information about Board elections in general click here for more information.

From the PCG

Entertainment Books

The PCG will be selling The Entertainment Book again this year. Please start promoting this with friends and family. The link below allows people to buy the book all around the country, so please share it with friends and family. The school receives $12 for each book sold, so this goes a long way towards our fundraising.

Thank you to all those involved in the organisation of the school disco. Thank you too to those that helped out on the evening. It was a wonderful night!

PCG Meeting – 9 May, 7pm.

The next PCG will be held at 7pm on Monday 9th of May. We look forward to seeing you there.

We would like to work towards having a Kapa Haka uniform for the school. If anyone is interested in helping with this please contact Nina Green.

Purchasing to support RCS

By purchasing at the following businesses you will be supporting RCS with our fundraising efforts.

  • Swimming is on Monday and Wednesday this week.
  • Home Learning Projects should be coming to completion. Please ensure your Year 4 – 7 children have completed the appropriate number of points and returned these to school by the end of this week.
  • Wheels Day is on a Wednesday – children may bring any type of ‘wheels’ they choose.

House Buying or Selling through our RCS community

I will contribute $500 to the school when any family or friends of RCS looking at buying or selling their homes use my services, resulting in a list and sell through me.
